Math Teacher

Solebury School seeks a qualified, experienced Math Teacher beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. An intentionally small, all-gender, independent day and boarding school for students in grades 9-12, Solebury is nestled on a rolling 140-acre campus in the Pennsylvania countryside. Solebury students and faculty pursue learning as a shared endeavor. Essential Functions:

  • Teach four high school math classes, from general level Algebra I to AP Calculus AB/BC or Statistics, in 80 minute blocks meeting two to three times each per week
  • Foster a strong working relationship with students, colleagues, and families
  • Lead an after-school activity three days per week for two trimesters, or coach a sport five days per week 
  • Participate in assigned weekend duties as part of the boarding program, with a number of weekends based on housing
  • Serve as an advisor of up to eight students
  • Engage in continuing professional development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience teaching high school students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field
  • Boarding and/or independent school experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Physical: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, reach for or otherwise move objects, including textbooks and other teaching materials. Sedentary work involves sitting, standing and walking around the classroom
  • Communication: Activities include both hearing and talking to express or exchange ideas and information
  • Environmental conditions: Activities occur mostly inside and occasionally outside
  • Valid driver’s license required as well as ability to pass a variety of background checks
